A recent global IT outage, on July 19, 2024 on the 201st day of the year has caused significant disruptions across various industries, including airlines, banks, and healthcare providers. The issue originated from a faulty update issued by CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company. The outage has affected numerous services worldwide. For example, many flights were grounded, and passengers faced long delays and lost baggage. In the UK, GP practices and some railway services experienced disruptions. Despite the chaos, CrowdStrike has confirmed that the issue was not a cyberattack.
