Candles are blessed at Candlemas on February 2nd (2/2) (can be spelt Candlemass) to commemorate the presentation of Jesus at the temple and to symbolize the light of Christ entering the world. This tradition stems from the biblical story where Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple forty days after his birth. On this day, candles are blessed by priests to represent the divine presence and to bring blessings and protection into the homes of the faithful. The act of blessing the candles also signifies the victory of light over darkness, highlighting the spiritual significance of the occasion. By lighting these blessed candles, believers seek to invoke the divine presence and seek guidance and protection in their daily lives.

The Counter Reformation was a movement initiated by the Catholic Church in response to the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. Its main objective was to combat the spread of Protestantism and to reassert Catholic authority. The Catholic Church implemented various strategies and reforms to achieve this goal. One of the key elements of the Counter Reformation was the establishment of the Council of Trent, which addressed the issues raised by the Protestants and reaffirmed Catholic doctrine. The Council also emphasized the importance of education, resulting in the founding of new schools and universities. Additionally, religious orders such as the Jesuits played a significant role in spreading Catholicism and combating Protestant teachings through missionary work and education.

Catholics believe The Ark of the Covenant is a symbol of the Virgin Mary.

The Assumption refers to the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken bodily into heaven after her death. This belief is based on the assumption that since Mary was the mother of Jesus, who is considered divine, she would not have undergone physical decay and instead would have been assumed into heaven by God. The Assumption is celebrated as a feast day on August 15th in many Christian traditions, and it is seen as a sign of hope and the promise of eternal life for all believers. The Assumption serves as a reminder of the importance of Mary's role in the life of Jesus and the significance of her faith and obedience to God.

The date 15 August (1543) is also the foundation date of The Society of Jesus - The Jesuit Order, also playing a large part in the Counter Reformation.

Mary the Mother of Jesus, is referred to The Queen of All Saints. All Saints Day is the day after Halloween (1 November [1/11]), which is also the date of The Protestant Reformation.
